News Report

The Building Disciples course covered the topic on the Holy Spirit this week. Justin prayed for a number of them at the end of the session to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and reports several people were touched powerfully by God and one participant looked like a changed man as a result of his encounter.
Praise God for changed lives!

Margret has had to use a crutch for 6 years. She woke up threw away her crutch and has been able to walk fine with out aid at all - cool - may this healing be sustained and permanent and everybody said amen!!

What a fantastic afternoon members of the Otaki Campus put on for everyone to enjoy.
There were egg and spoon races, wheelbarrow races, volley ball games and so much more for the kids and both the adults to participate in. Daizy Design and helper were floating around face painting for free non-stop for most of the afternoon so a big thank you to you guys.
A last minute addition to the afternoon was a huge slippery waterslide, not to many of the adults tried it out but the kids loved it and were racing up and down.

A big thank you to Daizy Design, Craig Watson, Spencer Nutsford, Alex Dalton and their helpers for planning and preparing such an awesome event that thanks to loads of sunshine turned out to be a great afternoon followed by relaxing picnic with friends and family... you guys rock!!!

Christmas @ Night

What a fun filled night we had at the Kapiti Campus for our Christmas Service.

We started with a couple of carols and these were followed by an amazing dance item from 'Santa's Little Helpers', check out the video clip below. Pastor Victor challenged the kids with a quiz game, which the girls won (yay girls). A few more carols were in order and it was great to see the kids sitting up the front enjoying the Christmas music. Pastor Sam shared a short message on Christmas time with some slides that made the kids laugh!

For the grand finale we gave the kids and big kids some glow sticks and mini Jesus loves you maracas which they loved but the best part was still to come, the snow.... this got the kids going crazy, dancing and singing in the snow. So all in all it was a wonderful night celebrating the reason for the season... Jesus!!!

Carols & Kai

What a fantastic morning at the Otaki Campus for there Christmas Service.

We packed out the Otaki Memorial Hall which looked amazing with Christmas trees, decorations and lights!! We had a morning of Carols, some oldies and some fun ones for the kids. Pastor Victor shared a Christmas message about "Why Sing Carols" which was timely for that morning. This was followed by our own Angel (Spencer) handing out presents to all the kids.

Following the Service while tea and coffee was served outside and a bouncy castle for the kids the hall was transformed into a dining room with lots of yummy food at the ready and a great time of fellowship.

Check out our highlights video

Grow 2011

GROW 2011

In 2010 MOVE was the word on my heart. As I came back from visiting Gia in Australia I felt strongly we needed to MOVE towards strengthening the I Church 2 Campus model. And I think we have mostly achieved this but of course there is still much to be done.

GROW is what I feel 2011 is to be about, in fact in talking about this at our Campus Leadership Training the other night I was so pumped at the end of it with all the ideas and input from all there that I could hardly sleep and was up at 5am writing all the things that were flooding my heart for the new year ahead.

I believe God wants us to

GROW Spiritually

GROW Individually

GROW Corporately

GROW Numerically

Someone said, "If you're always doing what you've always done, you will always get what you've always got".

In order to grow we have to be prepared to change - and I guess we at Meadows know that only too well as we are always changing.

Now at 5am it could have been the strong coffee but I think it was God. I got a bit of the next step towards what we need to do to GROW. I felt God say that to grow the campuses we need to be hearing the same message, same time.

If I'm to establish vision/way forward strengthen and equip us to GROW I need to be able to do that across the campuses, one message - same day - one church. To do that is not possible in our current Sunday service set up. But in 2011 that's about to change.

At the moment our Sunday services are:

Kapiti 9:00am

Kapiti 10:15am

Otaki 10:00am

Starting February new service times will be:

Kapiti 8:45am

Kapiti 10:00am

Otaki 11:00am

Why the change?

This will allow me the senior pastor to have the ability to visit and preach at all 3 services on any given Sunday.

Benefits

Same thing, same time, both campuses

The ability to speak at all Sunday services if I want to

1 life group study not 2

Both campuses see the Senior pastor regularly. Not absent from either

Guest speakers able to visit all 3 services / certainly 2. 10:00am and 11:00am. Which I feel is important for Otaki's development

Opt out if want to have 3 different speakers

Less need for combined services as guest speakers are able to get up to Otaki

Memorial Hall Otaki set up will have more time or if required can set up a bit later

Easier administration as far less juggling of speakers is needed

Ouch Factor

Change can be hard

Kapiti campus getting up a little earlier in order to set up, but we have been at this time before

Some adjusting to be done on both campuses

What about (A question people might ask)

Pastor Adam, if you leave the Kapiti campus most weeks to speak in Otaki, people will not get to see you after the service.

The reality is you will see me more than you do at the moment, as at the moment for either one or two Sundays I am not there at all as I'm either in Otaki or Kapiti but now I'll be in both

Remember also that when we have a guest speaker or others speak (eg Ps Victor) he would do all 3 services and I will remain in Kapiti

Also it does not mean I will do this all the time, it just gives me the ability to do it if I want to but certainly feel for first half of 2011 that I'll mostly need to do this to prepare us to GROW to the next level

So can I ask for your support and help to make this transition as smooth as possible? There is a lot more I could say but let's leave that for 2011, but I did feel I needed to prepare you for what's ahead as we GROW together

Girls Getaway 2010

"...The joy of the Lord is your strength." - Nehemiah 8:10

This year, we had the pleasure once again, of having the spunky Audrey Meisner from America, who is passionate to see the lives of other Jesus girls changed and enriched.

Over the course of the weekend some of the main session topics Audrey spoke on were about the 'The Road to Happiness': identifying the lies of Satan and not responding in our own default brain patterns, and finding our own secret place with God.

We had an amazing Spirit-filled worship throughout the camp.

We were joined this year by the Masterton and Shannon New Life girls. Many new friendships were developed, along with tons of laughter.

The drizzle wasn't going to stop us on Saturday afternoon enjoying the games Sharrece and Lisa had planned, Katharine managed to capture every funny moment on camera too, thanks girls!!

This year we ended camp differently than previous years - we had a PARTY! We were dancing, singing, laughing and full of the joy of the Lord.

A big thank you goes out to all those at El Rancho and our church family who organised and made this happen. Another thank-you to Antoinette's for your yummy houmos, Kiss and Bake Up for your "hope" cupcakes, Stefani Designs for our memorable key rings and Audrey Meisner for bringing God's word and hope to us and infectious joy with a lifetime full of memories.

The Ball & 25th Anniversary Celebration Service

Wow what an exciting part of history to be a part of.... The celebration of our 25th Birthday.... And man did we party.

An elegant evening of ball gowns and high heels, curled hair and makeup, crowns and kings robes, singing and dancing, champagne flutes and chocolate fountains. An evening not to be forgotten, where the church was transformed into a palace, where we all danced the night away feeling like royalty as we remembered "Generation to Generation... a Royal lineage" that we are a part of.

Photos don't quite tell the story or the atmosphere that was created that night. The band "the noodles" were awesome. They really set the stage and the night took off from there. The dance floor was full (except for when we all tucked into chocolate covered fruit, pavalova and brownies), and lasting memories still hummmm in everyones heads of hearing the church scream out the words to Jon Bon Jovi's "Living on a Prayer".

Big huge thank you to Kate Douglas and Natalie Griffin and their team for organizing such a fantastic and amazing night!!! You girls ROCK!!!

This celebration continued the next day, as we took the party to the rest of the congregation and some familiar faces from the past at our combined campuses 10:15am service. We were greeted by large, floating balloons and loud music that set the scene for another fun filled few hours of party.

Memories of the past were shared as was some fantastic video footage reminding us where we have come from and the labour of love that was set out in making the Meadows what it is today. We ended the service singing out to the Black Eyed Peas' song "Tonight's gonnna be a good, good night", albeit we changed the words to a more suitable "Today's gonna be a good, good day" as we popped the world's biggest party poppers sending confetti into the congregation.

After the service there was a bouncy castle and a lolly scramble for the kids, sausage sizzle for everyone and a great time of fellowship and memories from all the photos albums that were on display.

What an exciting weekend we had together as a church family celebrating such a fantastic milestone... So excited for the next 25 years ahead.
